Frequently Asked Dental Questions Austin
Ask Your Austin Dentist
If you haven’t been to the dentist in a long time or you are considering a treatment that you don’t know much about, it can leave you feeling hesitant to visit in the first place. That’s why our dentist in Austin has included a basic FAQ section highlighting the most common dental questions we receive, as well as detailed answers. We hope that they give you additional confidence as you plan your next appointment.
How often should I visit the dentist?
Most patients only need to visit the dentist once every six months. This allows us to catch dental issues before they have a chance to cause significant problems, as well as remove dental plaque and tartar from teeth. If you have gum disease, you’ll need to visit once every three to four months. We recommend that your child have their first dental visit by the time their first baby tooth erupts.
How do I get treatment if I’m feeling anxious?
Millions of Americans struggle to get regular oral healthcare simply because they have anxiety or dental fear. This is often the case if they had a poor experience with a previous dentist. Not only do we always take the time to listen to your concerns and walk you through the treatment process, but we also provide nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation. Both vary in strength, so you can get treatment that meets your specific needs.
Should I see you during a dental emergency?
If you’re experiencing a dental emergency, don’t wait to give us a call. This can be oral pain that does not go away or a damaged/knocked-out tooth. If you suffer from a broken jaw or severe bleeding, get to an emergency room first, then give our office a call. Otherwise, we’ll do our best to see you on the same day as your dental injury.
Is Invisalign right for me?
Invisalign is not ideal for everyone, which is why it’s so important to have a consultation completed beforehand. This way, we can confirm if clear aligners will effectively shift your teeth into a straighter position safely and effectively. If you have mild to moderate levels of misalignment, crowding, or crooked teeth, you’ll likely be eligible for treatment. Keep in mind that more severe cases, especially those affecting back teeth, are more likely to require traditional orthodontics.
Do you place dental implants?
Our dental office works with specialists to have dental implants. These are some of the most experienced implant dentists in Austin, and they can ensure that your future tooth replacements will last for a long time. With that said, we do provide implant-retained restorations that keep your bite even and look incredibly natural. They are also designed to last decades when practicing daily oral care.
Can I get oral surgery done at your dental office?
Absolutely! We administer multiple forms of oral surgery in-house, so you don’t necessarily need to go to another location just to have your treatment completed. Whether you need a root canal to save a damaged tooth, a tooth extraction to create space for successful orthodontic treatment, or a problematic wisdom tooth removed to stop crowding and prevent oral infections, our dentist is ready to help!
Can you restore/replace teeth?
We have multiple solutions for repairing and restoring damaged teeth at Snow Dental. This includes tooth-colored fillings and dental crowns. We also place dental bridges, dentures, and work with specialists to place dental implants. It doesn’t matter if you need to replace single teeth or an entire arch; we’ll work with you to create a dental plan that meets your needs.
What does it mean to have an out-of-network insurance?
Being out-of-network means Snow Dental does not have a contract with any insurance company. However, you can still use your insurance benefits with us! At your visit, we’ll estimate your coverage and collect the portion not expected to be covered by your plan. We’ll even file your claim for you. In most cases, the reimbursement will be sent directly to our office, or depending on your plan, the insurance company may send payment directly to you. In that case, you’ll simply forward that payment to us for the portion covered by your insurance. This approach allows us to focus on providing the best care possible (with fewer restrictions) while helping you maximize your benefits.
